The Churchill Arms in Kensington, west London is covered with 42 hanging baskets, 48 window boxes and 100 tubs with an annual floral bill of £30,000!  It all started about 30 years ago when they first started decorating the pub said General manager James Keogh.  Just a few hanging baskets and it progressed from there each year.  The pub website says: “Our beautiful flower displays earned us a reputation as one of the very select few pubs that can claim to be a Chelsea Flower Show winner”.

 

The Effects of Flowers

Mr Keogh goes on to say that having the display brings in a lot of customers around the world and people are always stopping to take photos and are posted online, where some photos are getting nearly as many ‘likes’ as the leaning tower of Pisa on popular social media platform, Instagram.

It’s not just the Churchill Arms, many other pubs across London with floral displays have noticed an increase in business too!

Many other businesses also having floral displays are getting extra publicity and photos posted online for amazing shop fronts.  Lou Ellerton, a social media expert from Mash Strategy Studio says that 80% of Instagram followers follow a business on Instagram.  Businesses are learning that they can bring people to their door by creating Instagrammable experiences and shots.
